🤝 Unijos R Users is a non-profit, volunteer-run community group. We do not charge membership fees, and none of our activities are run for profit — our work is made possible by volunteers and the support of the R Consortium.

Our Community

Unijos R Users is a community of R programming enthusiasts, undergraduate and postgraduate students, data scientists, researchers, and professionals based at the University of Jos. Our group aims to foster knowledge sharing, skill development, and networking opportunities for individuals interested in using R for data analysis, visualization, and statistical computing. We welcome members of all skill levels, from beginners curious about R to experienced practitioners looking to expand their expertise.

Our Mission

We’re on a mission to democratize data science in Jos. By fostering knowledge sharing, skill development, and networking opportunities — all at no cost — we’re building a community where everyone can harness the power of R for data analysis, visualization, and statistical computing.

Activities & Services

As a non-profit group, everything below is offered free of charge to members:

  1. Monthly meetups featuring presentations, workshops, and hands-on coding sessions
  2. Collaborative projects addressing local data challenges in agriculture, health, education, and more

Gender Diversity & Inclusion

  • Inclusivity: We commit to fostering a welcoming environment for all genders, ensuring everyone feels safe to participate in discussions and activities
  • Representation: We actively recruit speakers and leaders from diverse gender backgrounds, aiming for at least 50% representation of underrepresented genders
  • Support: We provide workshops and resources on gender diversity and inclusion, encouraging community members to engage in ongoing education and allyship
